At one of the biggest events in the history of the Avondale Heights Football Club, The Golden Jubilee Team was named.
The “Golden Jubilee Team” recognises our best team from the past 50 years. The nominees are derived from previously announced Teams of the Decade, covering the period from 1965 to 2010. To ensure that the selection squad also recognised players from the seasons between 2010 and 2014, additional players considered the best from this period were included. Players had to have played a minimum of two full seasons for the club to be eligible.
In all there are 85 nominees who are all representatives of Teams of the Decade which is a magnificent achievement in itself, considering that over 2500 players put on the Avondale Heights Football Club Jumper over the last 50 years.
An independent committee met and took feedback from various club representatives from all of the club’s eras in order to select the final 24 players, Team Captain, Vice-Captain, Team Coach and Club Administrator. We congratulate not only the team that is announced but all nominees.
