HEIGHTS COACHING ANNOUNCEMENTS

With Saade Ghazi continuing as Senior Coach in season 2015, the Avondale Heights Football Club would like to announce the following coaching appoints:

SENIOR ASSISTANT COACH: Anthony Eames
Anthony comes to our football club with Senior coaching experience including coaching Altona Football Club Seniors to the A Grade 2012 premiership in the Western Region Football League and being named senior coach of the year in the Western Region Football League that year.
Anthony will assist Saade with the seniors as well as mentor Reserves team coaches and monitor player development and performance at Reserve Grade Level.

RESERVES COACH:  Charles Cuzzupi
Charles has been appointed coach of the Reserves/Development Team to carry on following his mid-season appointment in season 2014. Charles has coached at Under 18’s and Reserves level on previous occasions at the club. With his retirement as a player at the end of season 2014, Charles will focus fully on coaching and developing our Reserves/Development Team in 2015.

UNDER 18’S COACH: Daniel Dimech
Daniel coached our U18’s in season 2014 where he was able to improve the playing group immensely throughout the season. As part of Daniel’s presentation to the club regarding season 2015, Daniel presented a player development coaching program which includes the following:

1. The U18 players to be included in pre-season training (pre-Christmas) with the Senior playing group and to train under the training program set out by club fitness and conditioning coach.

2. Senior Players to be mentors for our under 18 players. The player mentors will be available to players and will be based on ground positioning.
  The player mentors will include
   Dean Galea  - Forwards
   Luke Cartelli  - Midfield
   Nathan Byrne  - Ruck
   Michael Tanner - Backs

3. Senior player to assist at commencement of certain U18 training sessions.

4. Liaise with Senior Coach Saade Ghazi to fast track U18 player development including selected players training with seniors on occasions

The development coaching program outlined above is Daniel Dimech’s initiative and has been put to the club which will be endorsed by the club. His program together with his experience as Under 18’s coach, the stability that he will bring to this playing group as current U18 coach and his performance during season 2014 confirmed that Daniel was the most suited applicant for the position of Under 18’s coach for season 2015.

All players are invited to attend a player meeting this Sunday 26 October at 11:30am following the club Annual General Meeting. Under 18’s players will meet with Daniel Dimech to outline pre-season training, player pre-season expectation and information on season 2015.
