JUNIOR APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

JUNIOR APPOINTMENTS—2016

The AVONDALE HEIGHTS FOOTBALL CLUB announce the following appointments.

ROY FISHENDEN    JUNIOR VICE PRESIDENT.
Roy Fishenden has been appointed Junior Vice President for season 2016. Roy played junior football for the Avondale Heights Football Club and has vast sporting administration experience including being President of the Sunbury Basketball Association and the Sunbury Saints Basketball Club. Roy is very active in our local community and brings with him a professional approach to the operation of our football club’s junior component. The Avondale Heights Football Club congratulate Roy on his appointment and we look forward to a very successful year.

DARREN SHERIDAN    JUNIOR FOOTBALL COORDINATOR   (ADMINISTRATION)
Darren Sheridan has been appointed as junior football coordinator to manage the administration component  of junior operations. The Sheridan family has a long association with our club including Darren’s father being a founding member of the club and Darren and his brothers all playing for our club. Darren has been at our club for a couple of years and over this time has made a valuable contribution including being active in promoting our club.

ANTHONY LAFAUCI    JUNIOR FOOTBALL COORDINATOR   (FOOTBALL)
Anthony has been appointed Junior Football Coordinator to manage football operations. Anthony has experience as a junior coach and will ensure that our junior teams are exposed to excellent training and playing programs to ensure that they are given every opportunity to develop their football at our club.

JOHN MARKHAM    UNDER 16’S COACH
John Markham has been appointed under 16’s coach for season 2016. John coached the U16 team in 2015 and also has been assistant coach to our senior team over the last 3 years. He is one of the most decorated players of our club including being announced as a member of the “AHFC Team of the First 50 Years”. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the game to this coaching role and is well equipped for the important developmental role of this age group.

ROBERT SCIBERRAS   UNDER 14’S COACH
Rob Sciberras has been appointed under 14’s coach for season 2016. Rob coached our under 14’s team in 2015 and was able to develop the team over the season. He brings enthusiasm and a great desire to teach and mentor our under 14 players about the game. We look forward to seeing Rob continue his great work in his second year of coaching.

MARCUS STOREY   UNDER 12’S COACH
Marcus Storey has been appointed under 12’s coach for season 2016. In his first year as coach in 2015, Marcus took the U12’s Division 3 team to the Grand Final. Marcus is passionate about coaching and brings a refreshing approach to coaching at this level, ensuring that players are developed at this critical early stage as well as ensuring that football is fun.

ROY FISHENDEN   UNDER 10’S COACH
Roy Fishenden has been appointed under 10’s coach for season 2016. Roy joins us from the Aberfeldie Football Club where he coached at under 10’s level for the last two years. In both of those years, Roy guided the U10 teams he coached to premierships. Roy was awarded the AFL North West AFCA junior coach of the year in 2015 and was also a finalist in the 2015 AFL Victoria Junior Coach of the Year award. As well as being an award winning coach at junior level, Roy was also a midfield coach at senior level with the Sunbury Kangaroos when they won the premiership in 2012. Roy has an affiliation with the Avondale Heights Football Club playing junior football at our club. He is very excited and enthusiastic about coaching our U10’s team who are in their formative years and sharing his knowledge and experience with them. Roy is determined to seeing players reach their full potential as well as having fun.

GENERALLY
The Avondale Heights Football Club is currently conducting a Summer Training Program and the expression of interest from players to play for our proud club is very high. It is expected that we will be fielding multiple teams at all age groups as well as introducing teams at U8’s level and fielding a girl’s team. We will therefore be making further coaching announcements once our junior team structure has been finalised.
The Avondale Heights Football Club congratulate all of the aforementioned appointments and look forward to a successful 2016. Go Heights!
