VALE: FRANK MONK
It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of Francis William Monk. We all knew him as Frank and he was one of the original members of our football club. Frank, who was 83 years of age passed away on Friday 30th March 2018 surrounded by family. Frank was involved at the club in the early days after our club was established in 1965.
Frank left a legacy at our club by writing the Avondale Heights Football Club theme song. When all other local football clubs were adopting established football club songs from VFL teams with a tinkering of a few words, Frank wrote the Avondale Heights Club song which is the only original club song in the EDFL. Even after 50 years, the Avondale Heights Football Club teams sing the club song with gusto. So next time you hear the “mighty Avondale Heights theme song, give a thought to Frank Monk.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the whole Monk family from the entire AHFC Football community. The Monk family are planning a private cremation, followed by a Celebration of Life on Monday 9th April 2018 at the Sunbury Football Club commencing at 1:00 pm.
WE’RE THE HEIGHTS
WE’RE THE HEIGHTS
WE’RE THE MIGHTY
AVONDALE HEIGHTS
WE‘RE THE TEAM WITH THE BIG WHITE VEE
AND WHEN WE’RE ON THE GROUND
WE’RE GREAT TO SEE
WHETHER THEY’RE BIG OR
WHETHER THEY’RE SMALL
WE DON’T CARE
WE GO RIGHT THROUGH THEM ALL
IF THEY’RE FAST, IF THEY’RE SLOW
WE DON’T CARE
WE DON’T GIVE THEM A SHOW
SO COME ON BOYS
LET THEM SEE
IT’S THE BIG WHITE VEE
THE BIG WHITE VEE
THE BIG WHITE VEE
FOR VICTORY
