Avondale Heights Football Club play Aberfeldie Football Club in the traditional Premier Division ANZAC Day match. This season, the games will be held on SUNDAY 24th APRIL. This is the fifth ANZAC Day clash between these two Premier Division Clubs. The two teams will be playing for the ANZAC Day Cup which is currently held by the Aberfeldie Football Club. The player judged best afield will be awarded the Johnson Parker Medal which is named after war veterans with a link to the local area, who played in the local football competition, who strived to play football at the highest level (VFL at the time) and who paid the ultimate price for their country. Following an exhaustive process which included research and consultation with RSL Victoria, the medal was named the JOHNSON PARKER ANZAC DAY MEDAL, named after Len Johnson and Harold Parker. The JOHNSON PARKER ANZAC DAY MEDAL is awarded to the player in the match who best exemplifies the Anzac Spirit. Skill-Courage-Self-Sacrifice-Teamwork-Fair Play. The Under 18's will play at 12:10 pm, followed by the Reserves at 2:25 pm and the Seniors at 5:00. Prior to the senior game, the official ceremony will include the reading of the Ode, the playing of the last post and the singing of the National Anthem. The Senior game with be played under lights.
