HEIGHTS NAME NEW SENIOR COACH
Former North Melbourne player Donald McDonald has been appointed senior coach. McDonald, who played 155 games with the Kangaroos from 1982-92, has coached Werribee and Box Hill to premierships and had five games in charge of Hawthorn in the AFL at the end of 2004, will coach Avondale Heights for the rest of the 2017 season. He will be assisted by Craig Brittain, who played with McDonald at North Melbourne and was an assistant coach with the Brisbane Lions. Heights president Ted Hatzakortzian broached the coaching position with McDonald, who he knew through his involvement with the North Melbourne Football Club.
McDonald will also assist the club by structuring the football department and setting the club up for the next three years.
