HEIGHTS U19'S MAKE GRAND FINAL

Avondale Heights U19's will play off for the EDFL Premier Division Premiership after defeating Strathmore in the Preliminary Final. The Heights led all day to win the game 6:7:43 to 4:7:31. The Grand Final will be played at Windy Hill, start 9.30 am next Saturday 21st September.

The Preliminary final was a great day for our Club, with the Heights being in front all day against the overwhelming favourites Strathmore, who beat us by 15 goals and 8 goals during the season to win by 12 points.

Seven weeks ago the U/19’s were coming off 3 straight losses and every chance of not making finals. After an honest and open conversation, the group were given the option to either have the Courage to put every effort into the rest of the season knowing fully well there were no guarantees or keep going along the way they were and let the season play out. To their credit, the commitment to training (3 nights a week), listening to instructions, putting team before themselves and Discipline has resulted in winning the last 4 games of the home and away season, 2 finals (as underdogs) and given themselves an opportunity to play in a GRAND FINAL which none of us dreamed of 7 weeks ago. The courage by the players and support from our coaches shown 7 weeks ago is paying dividends…
We go into Saturday with momentum and belief, we have No Fear… Bring it on there is no limit to what this group of young men can achieve!

The support on Sunday at the Preliminary Final was terrific, the sense of pride that AHFC through our U/19’s are achieving is an amazing feeling, but we have 80 minutes to go!!!
Grand Final week is a special time so let’s do everything we can to make it to date one of the greatest life experiences these young men have….

So what can you do? Just like the expectations on the players , don’t just be a spectator – you can contribute , don’t leave it for someone else to do!!!!! Any help, no matter how small is appreciated…

Training this week is Tuesday/Thursday. Thursday night bar will be open, come down , watch training , have a drink – “Show your Support”. Ask Sev , Jenny or at the Bar “what can I do to assist on Saturday either at the ground or afterwards at the Club?”

Saturday Game Day– Windy Hill 9.30 am Start - The more support we have the better. Get to the ground nice and early, show your support by encouraging the boy’s throughout the game. Wear your AHFC gear proudly and cheer our Club on!!!! You will be able to purchase club merchandise on Thursday night at the Club!

Saturday – After Match – Will be heading back to the club to celebrate the year straight after the game. We expect everyone to come back and support not only the team but the committee and all involved who have worked so hard to give YOU this opportunity to attend & support YOUR Club at Windy Hill on Grand Final day! Bar will be open and Food available so put the time aside for the afternoon(& night) to spend together..

This is the future of our Club…    #Club1st
