LET THERE BE LIGHT!

The Avondale Heights Football Club Canning Reserve Oval Lighting upgrade will be completed in the next fortnight. The lighting upgrade was funded through the City of Moonee Valley Capital Works Program, with contributions from AFL Victoria through their Facilities Development Fund and contributing from the Avondale Heights Sporting Club resulting in the lighting upgrade designed to deliver over 150 lux illumination. This is the standard for night football. The Avondale Heights Football Club would like to thank our local councillors, John Sipek, Andrea Surace and Shirley Cornish for their tireless work and Moonee Valley City Council including Gordon Lyttle from Major Projects for his assistance during the AFL Victoria fund application process. We are also extremely appreciative of the assistance of Ricky Bell from AFL Victoria and the support of the EDFL.  AFL Victoria's support of this project is a prime example of how they and their governing body AFL are in support of grass roots football and do make major contribution to local clubs. Our club's AFL Victoria Gold Accreditation also was a governing factor  in AFL Victoria funding. The new light towers are already up and will be connected in the first week in June. Refer to the photo below to compare the new light tower to the old tower. LET THERE BE LIGHT!!
