The Avondale Heights Football Club are proud to announced two new inductees as life members of our football club.
John Markham was inducted as the 34th Life Member at the Golden Jubilee Ball on Saturday 13th June 2015. John has an illustrious career with our club including EDFL U18’S B & F 1987, AHFC Club Champion B&F 1990, AHFC Club Champion B&F 1993 and AHFC Club Champion B&F 1995. But it was John's voluntary contribution including chairman of selectors of our senior team in 2003 and 2004, assistant senior coach in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015, Junior team volunteer in 2014 and U16 coach in 2015 that put beyond doubt John's fantastic contribution top our club. John's father Alf Markham was our club's first Life Member back in 1976 and almost forty years on, John has also forged the Markham name in our club's grand history.
Rocky Prochilo was inducted as the 35th Life Member at the Golden Jubilee Ball on Saturday 13th June 2015. Rocky’s involvement at our football club goes way back to the days when he played as a junior. Rocky had a highly successful junior career before playing senior football at a very young age. However, Rocky’s induction tonight is around his hard working voluntary service over the last 10 years. Over this period, Rocky has coached at junior level. He has also mentored other junior coaches and has served as Junior Football Coordinator for a number of years. Rocky has served on Junior Committees as well as our being a member of our Senior committee for the last 6 years. In 2014 and 2015, Rocky has been heavily involved in assisting with our U18 team which is a critical component of our club and for player development.
Life membership is bestowed on deserving individuals who have rendered outstanding voluntary and unpaid service for the benefit of the club and others. John and Rocky have surely done this. They are truly deserving nominations for the honoured position of Life Member.
ohn has been a valued member of our club for over 17 years. During this period, he has played over 300 senior and reserve games and is one of only four players to achieve this feat. Chuck has also coached at Under 18 and Reserve level for six years and has served at committee level for three years. We congratulate Chuck on his achievements and on his induction.
