The Avondale Heights Sporting Club together with the Avondale Heights Football Club and Cricket Club form part of the team that conducts the TEA GARDENS GIFT. The Tea Gardens Gift has been conducted at Canning Reserve since 2011 and it has quickly gained a reputation as being a very progressive meeting on the VICTORIAN ATHLETICS LEAGUE professional running season. On the same running calendar as Stawell Gift, the professional running event will be held on Saturday 18th February 2017.
Previous Tea Gardens Gift events have been a tremendous success and provided a great day of racing. Located at Canning Reserve Avondale Heights, the Gift has become a major event on the local sporting and community calendar. With a carnival type atmosphere including a magnificent setting on the Maribyrnong River, jumping castle for the children, walking tracks along the river and the historic Tea Gardens and upgraded facilities for the athletes, the Tea Gardens Gift has stamped itself as a leading VAL event.
