VALE: ANTHONY "STRETCH" SHERIDAN
It is with deep sadness to advise that Anthony Sheridan passed away suddenly on Wednesday 29th January 2020.
Anthony "Stretch" Sheridan was a gun ruckman for the Avondale Heights Football Club. He also played with Essendon Reserves. Stretch was very athletic, a great mark of the footy and possessed a “different” kicking style. Only a few would remember but Stretch was also a very good cricketer, quick opening bowler who spearheaded the U/16 Grand Final for Avondale Heights Cricket Club.
1973 Member of the Under 17's A Grade side who finished Runner's Up
1974 Captain of the Under 17's A Grade Premiership side
1960-1970's Team of the Decade Member - RUCKMAN / FORWARD POCKET
1980's Team of the Decade Member - RUCKMAN
Stretch's biggest achievement was being announced as a member of the Avondale Heights Football Club Golden Jubilee Team 1965-2015
Stretch kept in touch with the club through watching his nephew James (brother Darren’s son) play on Sundays and was a regular supporter at Seniors games over the years, usually catch him in the rooms having a beer or two with Darren and studying the Form Guide!
Stretch always had a welcoming smile on his face and was always up for a chat. Gone way to bloody soon, Rest in Peace Big Fella
