VALE: PETER JINKS -Senior

4/3/1926 - 2/9/2017

It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of one of our founders, Peter Jinks Senior, who passed away peacefully this morning, 2nd September 2017.

Peter was heavily involved in establishing our great club in 1965 and was also one of our early Club Presidents, being elected as club President in 1968. Being a club president during the club’s infancy was a difficult job but Peter was one of the club pioneers and with strong committees, was able to give the club a good grounding. After being president for that year, he had a second term as president in 1972-1973. As a tireless and passionate worker and supporter for the club, Peter was nominated and awarded Life membership of the club in 1976. This was the year of the club’s first senior premiership. In 1984 Peter served a third term as President.

Peter had an undying love for the Avondale Heights Football Club and was a mentor and inspiration for many people over the last 52 years. Even in his latter years, Peter loved his visits to AHFC and last year after a home victory against Strathmore, which was also the 30 year reunion of our 1976 Premiership, gave an inspirational and emotional speech to all in the rooms after the match. He still loved addressing the players after all these years and it all just rolled off his tongue. He was so proud.

We offer our sincerest condolences to the whole Jinks family from the entire AHFC Football community.

The funeral service will be held on Friday 8th September 2017 commencing at 10.00am at The Celebrity Room, Moonee Valley Racecourse, McPherson Street Moonee Ponds (entry is via Gate 1).

RIP Peter Jinks
